International Faculty Testimonials

AMY CASSELLS, Cardiff University
I had a wonderful experience at the Asian Christian College of Music. From the moment myself and my fellow teacher arrived we were warmly welcomed and so well provided for. I learnt a lot about myself and my teaching through working at ACCM. The opportunity to teach students of a different culture in an unfamiliar environment provided a powerful pedagogic experience, which has not only enthused my personal ambition to facilitate the empowerment of young people, but also made me realise how music can promote so many positive outcomes in life.

The staff members at the College were all very supportive and appreciative of our efforts, and went out of their way to ensure that we were looked after and comfortable. Being surrounded by students from the Baptist Seminary was also very comforting, and we were constantly invited to be involved in their activity and highly regarded by all. I wish we could have taught there for longer, and would certainly love to work and visit again in the future.

CONSTANCE LEUNG, King's College London
Teaching at the Asian Christian College of Music was a rewarding experience. The students came with varying abilities and musical experiences, they are all very willing to learn and attentive in lessons. The school gives just the right amount of freedom for the students to discover and develop their talents. With the students’ creativity and imagination combined with theirstrong Christian background, I have enjoyed teaching composition classes; the students’ works also taught me to think out of the box.The television recording session with Worldvision TV studio was entirely new to me and to the students as well. I am glad that the students here are provided with such performing opportunity from time to time. The college’s teaching faculty also provided us visiting teachers with enough support and freedom in our teaching, which allowed us to structure a programme and teaching schedule ourselves. With the friendly and encouraging atmosphere at the college, spending two months in this foreign country did not turn out to be as scary as it initially sounded to me. I would love to come back to teach in the future.

Having the opportunity to teach at CDMS and the Asian Christian College of Music was a fantastic experience and one that I will never forget. Throughout my time in Kerala, the students and staff members at both establishments were incredibly welcoming and did their very best to provide me with anything and everything that I required.

Working with students of a different culture forced me to adopt a more flexible teaching approach, which has had an immensely positive impact on my creative and professional outlook and is something that I would love to do again in the future.
